On 21st September, 2020 icddr,b, in collaboration with National Newborn Health Program & IMCI, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) organised an online workshop to review the Technical Report of Newborn Signal Functions (NSFs). The workshop also aimed to generate ideas for future publication with experts on NSFs.

More than 20 newborn experts from DGHS, NIPORT, professional societies, development partners participated in the workshop and provided their valuable feedback on the draft technical report. The newborn experts also shared their ideas from which two ideas were finalised for future publication on NSFs reports.

As per the ideas of newborn experts, one publication will be on the process of identifying NSFs in Bangladesh and another will be on the readiness of public health facilities to perform NSFs in Bangladesh. In addition, it was decided that the standards of NSFs will be disseminated among the newborn healthcare providers working at both public and private health facilities.

Bangladesh Neonatal Forum, Bangladesh Pediatric Association, Bangladesh Perinatal Society have agreed to organise separate webinars to disseminate the study findings of NSFs with their society members and the relevant healthcare providers. Moreover, icddr,b will provide NSFs posters to the professional bodies so they can distribute them among the respective society members and relevant healthcare providers.
